چکیده

Cefoperazone is a new cephalosporin with a very wide spectrum of activity, including activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has less activity on enterococci and Acinetobacter. Of the 459 selected bacterial strains tested in this study, only 1.5% (7 strains and 6 genera) had minimum inhibitory concentrations of >128 ,ug/ml. For a minimum inhibitory concentration breakpoint of <32 p.g/ml (susceptible), we recommend that the disk diffusion test be done with a 75-,ug disk and breakpoints of .18 mm for susceptible, 15 to 17 mm for intermediate, and <14 mm for resistant. Diffusion tests using these criteria yielded only 1.1% very major or major errors.

Cefoperazone: regression analysis, disk content, and disk susceptibility testing considerations.

Cefoperazone agar dilution minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) susceptibility results were compared with zones of inhibition produced by disk diffusion susceptibility testing. Disks containing 30, 50, 75, and 100 micrograms of cefoperazone were tested for purposes of regression line comparisons and error rate-bounded analysis. Results suggest that if the MIC equivalent of susceptibility is 3...

In vitro antimicrobial spectrum, occurrence of synergy, and recommendations for dilution susceptibility testing concentrations of the cefoperazone-sulbactam combination.

Broth microdilution tests and an antimicrobial interaction (synergy) studies using various combinations of cefoperazone and sulbactam were performed in an effort to determine the most appropriate in vitro dilution test system. The test results with cefoperazone and sulbactam were categorized as synergistic (complete or partial) for nearly 80% of the strains isolated from clinical trial patients...

In-vitro susceptibility of Burkholderia pseudomallei to cefoperazone-sulbactam combination.

Melioidosis is endemic in Malaysia. Emerging resistance with new and current antimicrobial agents has underscored the need to look further for new antimicrobial agents for the treatment of melioidosis. Hence, we evaluated the in-vitro susceptibility of fifty locally isolated strains of Burkholderia pseudomallei, the causative agent of melioidosis to cefoperazone-sulbactam combination using the ...

In vitro susceptibility of Clostridium difficile isolates to cefotaxime, moxalactam, and cefoperazone.

The in vitro susceptibility of 20 isolates of Clostridium difficile to cefotaxime, moxalactam, and cefoperazone was determined by a standard agar dilution method. The median minimal inhibitory concentrations were 64, 32, and 32 mug/ml for cefotaxime, moxalactam, and cefoperazone, respectively.

Antimicrobial susceptibility of Bordetella avium and Bordetella bronchiseptica isolates.

Two veterinary pathogens, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Bordetella avium, were tested for their antimicrobial susceptibilities. Of the 20 antimicrobial agents tested, both species were consistently resistant to penicillin and cefuroxime but susceptible to mezlocillin, piperacillin, gentamicin, amikacin, and cefoperazone.
